Chrislan is a singer/songwriter who is in his early 20’s. He is a dedicated musician, having been given a guitar by a relative at the age of 11, he has developed his own style of playing (several instruments), and singing. He is mainly influenced by soul and blues music. From the outset his burning ambition is simply to make music, and for people to enjoy and willing to listen to his music is a bonus that allows him to continue with his music career. With the overwhelming success of his first single, he and his management team have decided to put his educational career on hold, much to the displeasure of his mother. This alone has cause an estrangement from his parents. Chrislan lives alone in a residential penthouse. He also has a younger sister TRISHA, with whom he is very close. Chrislan launched his professional music career at the age of 17 when he released (as an independent) the record “Treasure” after graduating from high school. The record opened many doors and eventually led to the offer of a contract with the label, MAN’S recording production. Although he enjoys the usual privileges financial success has brought, he is a reluctant ‘star’ and only carries out public engagements at the absolute behest of his record label. As his fame has grown and he has become more recognisable, Chrislan is not averse to taking advantage of his burgeoning celebrity and can often be seen with a procession of attractive women. He was perfectly content to continue his bachelor life and could not foresee any interruption of such until he walked into a particular restaurant on a particular day and saw a particular woman: LAURIE CARMEN. Chrislan was so taken by this elegant attractive and sophisticated woman he could not imagine the dilemma her acquaintance would present. He found her extremely attractive and admired the winning simplicity etched in her delicate features. Chrislan developed feelings for Laurie that he had never felt for any other women. Though highly intelligent and quick witted, he struggled to come to terms with the demands of his record label and his commitments to the woman he had fallen in love with. Perhaps it was the poet, the artist, the romantic nature within him that blinded him to the obvious upheaval his choices would engender. Chrislan would be forced to make a choice for which he was not only unprepared, but also ill equipped to make. Yet make it he did, and his judgement would define his whole life and the lives of the people around him.
